MOORESVILLE, NC - Chuck
Gafrarar hit the track on Friday, July 11th
for qualifying laps at Kentucky Speedway,
Sparta KY for the sixth stop on the NASCAR
Goody's Dash Series. Gafrarar qualified taking
outside pole for the 100 lap event for the
Kentucky 150. The 2002 Rookie of the Year
thought this was his best shot at claiming
his first Dash career win.
"This
is what we were looking for and posting a
great time gave us an excellent shot, stated
Gafrarar. The #14 silver rocket was fast
and the team and crew felt confident, all
important factors for a good race." Both
Gafrarar and Justin Hobgood were the only
two to out of 32 entries to hit the 35 second
clock in qualifying, with Justin picking
up the Bud Pole award and new track record!
During happy hour Gafrarar #14 Will Hobgood prepared Pontiac was perfect.
We made adjustments to have it race ready and felt confident that the
three Hobgood cars would be headed to top five finishes. Lady luck
took a nasty turn when the pit for a right front tire ended the Gafrarar
run to the front. The night turned to a frustrating one stated Gafrarar,
"as
I completed 53 laps and pulled in for the front tire change, on pit
exit I was told a wheel stud broke." As per NASCAR rules we need
five and the Officials had me take it behind the wall. Having to park
it for the remaining laps was not what I wanted for our team and Sponsors.
Things happen, it's racing...and we turn the page and go forward -
Bristol's coming."
Gafrarar stated he would
like to give a huge thanks to his
Sponsor Team: Travel Club International,
Icehouse, I. H. Caffey, INC., RWI
Sports Marketing, INC., Mobil 1,
MeadWestvaco and Long Shifters. They
are the people making this possible
for me to do and help get their companies
out there. We have a great Sponsor
Team and hope to get them in the
Winners Circle soon." Once again
Thanks to Will Hobgood and the Hobgood
Family and Crew for all their help
and support - they are awesome. Also
thanks to my Crew Chief - MarkTorbett,
Spotter - Michael Johnson, Nikki
Long - Scorer and Travis Firing -
Crewman. I really wanted them all
in the Winner's Circle." Gafrarar
also stated " I would like to
extend extra thanks to the Spears
Truck Racing Crew for their Pit assistance."
Pennsylvania Fans will get to see Gafrarar August 8 - 10 at BeaveRun
Motorsports Complex in Wampum, PA when he will race in the WKA Nationals
at the Wampum facility. Gafrarar stated,
I grew up in Pennsylvania
and hope many come to see the event and stop over and say hello." Business
