Gafrarar's hope for
win at SoBo up in smoke.
[ In 8th place and the motor drops
cylinder ] |
MOORESVILLE, NC - Chuck
Gafrarar, Mooresville NC had proved before
and in the past three races he can take the
wheel of a car and work his way to the front!
On Saturday, June 14th at Big Daddy's South
Boston Speedway in South Boston VA, Gafrarar
made his third stop in the 2003 NASCAR Goody's
Dash series. The 2002 NASCAR Rookie of the
year kept a good pace forward in the 150
lap event working his way to 8th spot after
qualifying in 12th position.
Practice and qualifying for the event was done in extreme, hot and
humid, track conditions at Big Daddy's Speedway. Gafrarar kept the
car smooth during the race, maintaining a steady pace and position.
He brought it on at the half way mark starting to work towards the
front. Gafrarar took the Travel Club International - Icehouse #14 to
the track for the first time run in a Ford product! A caution on lap
39 had Gafrarar pit for a fuel and go. The car, a little tight, ran
steady in 12th spot. Gafrarar challenged the 2 car of Scott Weaver
for 7th position when his engine started to fail, losing power, and
ending the chase. Gafrarar headed for the garage with a 23rd finishing
spot.
Gafrarar said
"the car really started coming on after
about 3/4 of the way into the race. I was able to pick up positions
once the car really came in about 100 laps into the race. We were having
a good run in the Mercury Cougar - Cam Strader prepared car, but the
motor lost a cylinder throwing a wrench into the race for us! Everyone
thought for sure we would have a top five finish! I would like to give
special thanks to Cam and our crew, everyone did a great job and it
would have been great to have a top five finish for them. We had great
response from our fans at the track as well as our websites,
stated Gafrarar.
We have a great sport and the fans are
the best." Gafrarar gave special thanks to his Sponsor
Team: Travel Club International, Icehouse, I. H. Caffey, Inc., RWI
Sports Marketing, INC., Mobil 1., MeadWestvaco, and Long Shifters!
The next race on the schedule for Gafrarar will be Friday, July 11th
at Kentucky Speedway, Sparta KY. Chuck will be in the #14 silver rocket
prepared by Will Hobgood! Interested business associates looking for
unique advertising may contact Chuck at his website or within the Goody's
