Hobgood Pontiac] |
MOORESVILLE, NC - Mooresville
NC's Chuck Gafrarar took to the track Saturday,
May 17th at Lowe's Motor Speedway in the
Silver #14 Pontiac from the Hobgood Racing
Team…and became a silver rocket! Qualifying
out of 52 entries, Gafrarar came up starting
in 17th spot for Saturday nights EasyCare
100 NASCAR Goody's Dash Series. Race fans
of over 100,000 got to watch the competition
of NASCAR'S top competitors dash for the
win! During Friday's happy hour Gafrarar
was clocked as 8th fastest with a good shot
for Saturday's events.
The first caution of the race came out on lap nine, when Crew Chief
Mark Torbett opted for a fuel and go. Gafrarar came into the pit 17th
and was in 24th spot on the return. A great pace continued as he worked
his way to the front, staying clear of accidents by many during the
evening. Gafrarar stated
"all the yellow flags that
evening really hurt our advancing more positions. It's rough we only
had about 20 hot green laps to race with all the cautions. I was extremely
happy to have a good run in front of the Winston Cup crowds." Gafrarar
was on the move from 17th to 4th to claim that top five finish!
"Giving
my sponsors great exposure is important to me and the fans were great!
I appreciate all the emails and action on our website. We have a great
fan group. Thank you all for the support."
The evening 's events for Gafrarar were filled with great help for
his first run in the Hobgood mount. He stated
"I would
like to thank Will, Jake, Justin, and the Hobgood family for this opportunity.
Also thanks to Mark Torbett, Michael Johnson for all their hard work
and for coming from a former team. Thanks also to Frank Bolter, owner
of Corporate Image for lending his employees (Matt Vassar and Erik
Jackson) to work on my Crew. Special thanks to Dave Kenny, Penske Racing
South (Spotter) and Doug Ingold, Penske Racing South (Gasman) and Nikki
Long (scoring). Everyone pitched in and helped so much, I really appreciate
all their help - we had a great fourth place finish in front of a great
crowd."
Across the finish line Gafrarar carried the sponsors of: Travel Club
International, Icehouse, I.H. Caffey, Inc., Rusty Wallace - RWI Sports
Marketing, INC., Mobil 1, MeadWestvaco and Long Shifters. Gafrarar's
next race in the Hobgood car will be July 11th in Sparta KY. Business
associates interested may contact Chuck through his website at www.chuckGracer.com
and also the
Goody's
Dash website. Gafrarar is still interested in finding a ride for
the next two short track events.
