Gafrarar signs with Travel Club International

[Gafrarar and Rusty Wallace on the same page – again]

Daytona Beach, FL – On Thursday, February 6th at Daytona International Speedway, Chuck Gafrarar announced his signing with Travel Club International (TCI) a World Wide Travel Club. Steven Lee, Chairman of TCI sealed the deal as the new logo on the Highlands Motorsports team owned #52 Toyota was debuted at the speedway.

“ This project began a few weeks ago, Gafrarar stated, with the help of NASCAR, Travel Club International and Rusty Wallace. I also would like to thank Rusty Wallace Marketing, Rusty Wallace, Dick Paysor and Tom Knox for facilitating.” The final agreement was set between Rusty Wallace Marketing and Chuck Gafrarar Racing.

Gafrarar stated, “this is an exciting new sponsor for us and we are proud to add Travel Club International! Having TCI on board the 52 car will be a great addition to our Sponsor Team. TCI is a unique worldwide membership club geared for any traveler. The more I learn about the concept the more I am impressed with the company. I look forward to representing Travel Club International for an exciting 2003 race season.”

The sponsorship with TCI is unique, since it will put Gafrarar together again with his former boss, Rusty Wallace! Wallace also signed with TCI for the 2003 race season! The Travel Club’s magazine will feature Chuck and Rusty with their racecars in coming issues!

Last January Gafrarar left Penske to pursue his own racing career. Gafrarar’s season stats in the NACAR Goody’s Dash 14 race season: three top five’s, six top ten’s, five Mag-Clip High Finishing Rookie of the race awards and capturing the 2003 Rookie of the Year title! Within the Dash series Gafrarar also claimed a Grand National Champion title in the WKA Horstman Gold Cup events. In the WKA series he was also awarded the 2002 George Kugler Sportsmanship award! Gafrarar, known for his World Karting promoting will be racing the Gold Cup series again this year as a Factory Driver for Margay Karts! Gafrarar has taken his career from fabricator to Driver – non-stop!

The Daytona race was also the first time Gafrarar was part of the Toyota Research Development (TRD) team. “I really appreciate the opportunity to be a team member and work towards making Toyota a consistent front runner. Gafrarar stated, the Daytona race was a disappointing one for our team, it was not the finish I wanted for the team. I also want to thank my Crew and team owners for all the hard work everyone did this week at Daytona in challenging conditions. I look forward to bigger and better things for our team and sponsors this season – so stay tuned.”

The Highlands Motorsports Team is owned by: J. Wade Lopez and Tom Sweeney and is based in Bristol TN. Besides Travel Club International, other members of our Sponsor Team are: Icehouse, I.H. Caffey, Lopez and Associates LLC, Highlands Motorsports, Refrigeration Services, INC., Mobil 1, TRD (Toyota Racing Development), Rusty Wallace INC. – Sports Marketing, MeadWestvaco, Weaver Race Chassis, Shields Electronic Supply INC., Brembo (Brakes).

The 2003 Highlands Crew members are: Crew Chief – Mark Torbett, Team Manager – Wayne Edwards, Shop Manager – Tommy Spangler, Gas Man - Mike Frye, Tire Changer - Glen Mumpower, Gas Man - Kevin Lowe, Gas Catcher - Ryan Anglen, Jackman - Tom Sweeney, Spotter #1 - Greg Godsey, Spotter #2 - Michael Johnson, and Hauler Driver - Mike Ost.

Gafrarar’s next race will be April 5th at Oglethorpe Speedway Park, Savannah, GA.
